Whilst i was in Milan we visited the House of the Necchi family, a rich and influencial family responsible for Necchi sewing machines.
Built by the architect Piero Portaluppi in 1932, it shows an important transition in interior design from traditional styles to rational minimalism within Milanese design.
My photos dont give it justice but its a very beautiful property with many smart features that would still be deemed fashionable today, everything has been restored to its original condition by Italy's version of The National Trust, FAI.
It's great to be able to view places like this where a wonderful architect was given an unlimited budget to create something so directional.
I've also discovered that the film I Am Love is based on the Necchi family, starring Tilda Swinton which uses the house throughout the movie, so here's the trailer.
I've also been up those stairs at the duomo and in that cemetary at the end how weird.
