Decadence
originates from the medieval latin 'decadentia'; relating to the word decay.
moral or social decline, after a peak or culmination of achievement.
behaviour reflecting such a decline; self-indulgence.
depravity, hedonism, degeneration, degredation, retrogression.
Austerity
originates from the latin 'austeritas'; relating to the word severe.
extreme plainness, simplicity, style or appearance.
sternness of manner or attitude.
no comforts or luxuries; harshness, unadorned.
seriousness, solemnity, gravity, sobriety, restraint, abstinence.
When I consider how each level of the world's current climate is affecting me i feel scared and uncertain about the future.
The stress and anxiety carried by our generation causes me to seek escapism.
Everyone is searching for escapism, a numbingly pleasurable fix.
Absolutely everything is pointless.
Each one of us is reduced to billions of tiny meaninglessly accumulated dots which is something beautiful in itself.
We feel one with each other in times of austerity, at the same time we are alone in our own bubbles and indulgent fantasies.
I want to create positivity from negativity and industrialisation,
finding beauty in the decadent and austere.
Something attainable for the conscious who want to daydream without a conscience.
Something that focuses on simplicity yet retains a desirable intensity to it.
