Apologies for my absence, I've been super busy moving in to my new flat which I'm so happy with and will hopefully share more of with you in the near future.
I'm very excited to present to you my chosen fabric for the luxury t-shirt range I'm planning on producing within the next month or so.
Some of you will have already heard tidbits about this project, I will be using the prints from my previous jelly project as well as some of my final sculpture images, such as the one above on a fine 100% silk twill.
The aim is to have everything except the raw materials in regards to these garments manufactured and produced in the UK, working with all the small people and businesses to create a luxury quality garment but without that huge price tag or ethical issues.
It brings me immense happiness to see not only my friends but anyone who has supported me over the past few years to be wearing something that I put my time and effort in to in order to create something genuinely beautiful and worthy of wearing, that's enough satisfaction for me to not care about making a profit.
I believe it's important to practice working with other manufacturers if you are ambitious enough to want your own company, because you don't get taught the business side of the industry at art school, once you're education is finished you're on your own.
At the beginning of this project I was worried about how much of my time it would take, about wether i may lose money in the process or the amount of people i'd need to find for every little job, but at the end of the day life is far too short.
Everyone has their own individual goals but I now know that I will die happily if I spend the rest of my life simply creating beautiful objects, there's always room for perfection. If you want to do something just do it, and it'll be worth it if you want it enough.
I'll keep you all updated.
