I was completely inspired by The Maison Martin Margiela '20' Exhibition in September 2010 at Somerset House,
As well as The Barbican's Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion in October 2010 and how much the objects on display have in common on aesthetic, cultural and social levels.
For the main object focus, I chose Margiela's 'Tabi' Boots.
I knew little about these infamous shoes until the Somerset House exhibit, where I learnt that they are based on Jika-Tabi boots, Japanese outdoor footwear made in the 20th century for farm workers.
To me, it made sense when I look at his influences and style, it's traditional clothing used in a contemporary sense in it's purest form.
